Wildlife

Tanzania is home to a vast variety of wild animals and has the largest diversity and concentration of wildlife in Africa. It has numerous national parks and nature reserves, most notably the largest game reserve in the world – Selous Game Reserve – where you will have a chance to see elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, and many more.

Another haven for wildlife is the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact crater in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater floor offers an array of scenery from swamps, lakes, and rivers, to woodlands, and mountains. This scenic place is also home to Africa’s Big Five – the lion, leopard, cape buffalo, rhino, and elephant.

Another once-in-a-lifetime experience is the Great Migration – thousands of wildebeest crossing the Serengeti plains in search of fresh grass. It is truly a spectacle worth witnessing.

This ancient nomadic tribe lives near the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. They live in traditional Maasai villages and are recognizable by their beautiful, brightly colored red robes called Shuka and beaded jewelry. They welcome visitors with open arms and offer a first-hand experience of their culture and lifestyle. Visiting a traditional Maasai village will give you a chance to see tribe members singing and dancing their famous jumping dance and spend a night in a boma – a traditional Maasai house.

One of Africa’s Natural Wonders, the so-called roof of Africa, Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano that rises 5895 meters above sea level. It is the easiest to climb out of the Seven Summits and offers a unique climbing experience thanks to its untouched nature, 5 different ecological zones, and unique, diverse vegetation and wildlife.
