The National Gallery of Arts
The National Gallery of Arts is located near the center of Tirana. It is a place that every tourist goes to see Albanian art. There are currently 4626 artworks in this gallery and more than 600 registered artists in the archives. This gallery is the only national institution that conserves, studies, restores, exhibits, and archives the works of art in the country.
The National Museum of History
According to Albania.al, this is the perfect place to learn more about Albanian history. The National History Museum is the most famous museum in Albania and contains a well-documented history of the country.
House of leaves
House of Leaves is another intriguing place in Albania to visit. It is considered to be the equivalent of the Stasi headquarters of former East Germany. It is a place that will leave you speechless with many objects that show parts of the National Intelligence Service.
Tirana Castle
Tirana Castle is a new place in town that many people prefer to walk through, sit, and have a coffee or maybe a warm wine during winter. Inside the castle, there are several restaurants, bars, and also gift shops. Even though a small place is a must-visit.
Grand Park in Tirana Lake
The Grand Park in Tirana an excellent place for all ages. One of the most visited destinations while traveling in Albania, perfect for long walks. Tirana’s citizens come here often in the early evening and typically on Sundays, to walk or jog, take a coffee or walk and chat with a friend.
A beautiful place here is the amphitheater where many events are held, and anybody can sit and enjoy them.
The Orthodox Cathedral
The cathedral complex comprises the cathedral itself, the chapel of the Nativity, bell tower, the residence of the Holy Synod, cultural center, a library, two other chapels, and a small museum. Following its construction, the cathedral has become a significant tourist attraction in Tirana.
The Scanderbeg square
The square that bears the national hero, Scanderbeg’s name, is a meeting place for all Albanians. It is the place where many of the most important cultural sites of Tirana and Albania are located—the National Museum, the Clock Tower, Et’hem Bey Mosque, Palace of Culture.
Et’hem Bey Mosque
Found in the heart of Tirana, there is this unique mosque with its own history. The Et’hem Bey Mosque was founded in the 18th century and closed under the communist rule to be reopened as a house of worship in 1991. By the time it was built, this mosque was a very complex building that composed the center of Tirana. Nowadays tours are given daily in this mosque, and it is very much liked by the tourists.
The palace of Brigades
You may have heard about the Presidential Palace in Tirana, the former Royal Palace and nowadays known as “Palace of Brigades”. Everybody can visit it during weekends. The Royal Garden is genuinely amazing with big trees, colorful flowers, and statues.
The New Baazar
One of the major attractions in Tirana, the New Baazar, welcomes every day a lot of people. It has an unusual architectural style, and it is decorated beautifully with Albanian motives. People go there to enjoy the great food, to have a coffee, and even to shop for their homes.
The pyramid
It is absolutely a famous tourist attraction. As a symbol of notorious communism, it resisted some attempts to be destroyed by previous governments.
Clubs and coffee shops
There are a variety of places to entertain you, and most of them stay open all night. Bars and clubs can be found throughout the town, particularly in the “Blok” area, playing all kinds of live music, including jazz, house, funk, Latin, etc.
